The 2021 Amazon CamperForce hiring season is upon us! And some pretty big changes have come along with it! If you worked the 2020 Peak Season, you should’ve received an email from Amazon giving you the opportunity to submit your application ahead of the public. Check your email! Early application submission for Alumni will be accepted one week ahead of regular applicants. This is a great thing! If you get your application in within the week, you’re almost assured a job.

But early application submission isn’t one of the “big changes” referred to just moments ago. Warehouse facility locations, campground stipends and part-time employment opportunities are. We’ll go over those changes in this post, but pay special attention to the part about the campground stipend. Not everyone will be happy.

Campgrounds & Stipend

Big changes have been made for 2021 Amazon CamperForce campground selection and stipend. This year, CamperForce employees will not be provided a list of campgrounds to choose from. You must locate and make arrangements on your own. Amazon will pay each CamperForce employee $120.00 per week (CampPay) to contribute towards campground expenses. If you have a travel partner who is also working at Amazon, they’ll receive the weekly $120.00 stipend as well. As you can see, however, single campers will almost certainly be paying something out-of-pocket for a site.

Returning and first time CamperForce employees are encouraged to immediately start researching campgrounds in your desired locations. This will help you make an informed decision on campground availability and cost. Unlike previous years, the 2021 CampPay will be paid in your weekly paycheck and will be taxed.

Part-Time Employment Opportunities

The 2021 Amazon CamperForce season will offer part-time employment opportunities at select locations. The part-time opportunities allow employees to choose shifts (3 to 5 hours long) that work best for them. Part-time employees will be required to work a minimum of 4 shifts (not to exceed 6) for a maximum of 30 hours per week. The opportunity to work additional hours may be available through the Peak Season. Your schedule will be based on availability and determined 1-3 weeks before your first day.

Pay

Nothing has changed in this department. The pay is still $15.00 per hour. Work weeks are typically four ten-hour shifts with a possible mandatory fifth day. Of course, overtime pay applies. Employees may have the opportunity to pick up additional shifts as well. Shift differential may be available at select facilities.

End-of-Year Bonus

The assignment completion bonus is $.50 for each regular hour worked and $1 for each overtime hour worked. To receive the bonus, you must complete the entire season you were hired for. Also, the assignment completion bonus is paid after your assignment ends.

2021 Amazon CamperForce is still a good option for seasonal employment. With assignment dates starting as early as September 19, 2021 in several locations and assignment lengths up to 14 weeks, there’s something for everyone. The changes made to the campsite selection and reimbursement may not benefit everyone, but it’s worth looking into. Also, the flexibility offered by the new part-time positions are a great alternative for anyone who wants to earn extra money but doesn’t want to work full-time, or for those who found forty and fifty-hour workweeks at Amazon too strenuous.
